Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy

What is Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy?
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a specialized mental health treatment using horses as partners in therapy, led by professionals, to help clients with emotional and psychological issues like anxiety, trauma, and self-esteem by facilitating self-awareness, communication, and relationship skills through ground-based, non-riding activities such as grooming, leading, and problem-solving. It's an experiential, non-judgmental approach where the horse's intuitive responses mirror the client's internal state, promoting insight and growth beyond traditional talk therapy.

Reducing Stress
The calming effect of horses helps ease anxiety. Studies have shown that being in close proximity to a horse while in a calm and safe environment can help regulate your heart's rhythm by syncing with the horse's own heart rhythm.

Experiential learning
Clients learn about themselves by observing the horse's reaction to their actions, practicing new behaviors in real-time
